MISGA - Maryland Interclub Seniors Golf Association
If you are at least 50 and maintain a valid USGA handicap, you can join MISGA. MISGA comprises about 60 member clubs throughout Maryland and fringe areas of Pennsylvania, Delaware, and West Virginia. The Bretton Woods group schedules about 30 events or “mixers” each season – 24 away and 6 at home - on fine courses such as Hobbit’s Glen, Fountain Head, Kenwood, Manor, Montgomery Country Club and Norbeck. Entry fees ranging from $40-$57 in 2015 cover coffee & donuts, greens & cart fees, a post-round lunch, and prizes. That's a deal that’s hard to beat!
Mixers are friendly and collegial events blending players of different handicaps from the participating clubs into foursomes playing against the field rather than club against club. Although formats occasionally vary, the most common is the best two net balls of the foursome, a format that particularly rewards the player having a few good holes during the round – and who doesn’t have at least a few holes better than our handicaps might suggest?
